Ear Pinning (Otoplasty) Surgery in Palm Harbor and Tampa Bay
Enhancing your appearance with Ear Surgery
If you or your children’s ears are protruding or disproportional to your face, you may benefit from Ear Surgery. Teasing and ridicule that children with prominent ears sometimes experience can significantly effect their self-confidence. Adults with prominent ear can be equally effected and embarrassed about their look. Dr. Moraitis with both adults and parents that have these concerns and commonly recommends Otoplasty Surgery for correction.
With Otoplasty Surgery, sometimes referred to as "ear pinning", Board Certified Palm Harbor Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Isidoros Moraitis repositions the ears by pulling them back closer to the head to give a more natural appearance. As a skilled surgeon, Dr. Moraitis can dramatically change the position of your ears, resulting in a more natural, aesthetic look.
Otoplasty Surgery Techniques
Correction of protruding ears involves surgical techniques to create or increase the antihelical fold (just inside the rim of the ear) and to reduce enlarged conchal cartilage (the largest and deepest concavity of the external ear). Incisions for Otoplasty Surgery are well hidden and placed on the back surface of the ear. When incisions are necessary on the front of the ear, they are made within the ear folds to help conceal them. Internal sutures are utilized to create and secure the newly shaped cartilage in place. The incisions are the closed with external sutures.
Otoplasty Surgery Results
At East Lake Plastic Surgery Center in Palm Harbor, Dr. Moraitis takes special care not to distort other structures and to avoid an unnatural “pinned back” appearance with cosmetic Ear Surgery. Results from this surgery are near immediate. The ears are permanently positioned closer to the head and incisions are hidden within the natural creases of the ear.
