Chemical Peel
A
chemical peel is a procedure that uses a chemical
solution to peel away wrinkled, blemished, unevenly
pigmented, or sun-damaged facial skin. The procedure
is non-invasive. The result is softer, smoother,
and more youthful looking skin.
Glycolic
Acid Peel (In Office)
Different types of peeling solutions are available
for chemical peels. The most common chemical used
now is glycolic acid, a fruit acid derivative from
the alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA). Glycolic acid is
used in many cosmeceutical lines of products in
low concentrations; however, it is possible to use
up to a 90% solution peel to remove the outer dead
skin layer. These peels result in an improved clarity
and tightness of the skin. There is no resultant
redness and oozing, as there is with other peels
like TCA. There is no down time from activity or
work. Glycolic peels can be done as a “lunch-time
peel”; only taking 15 minutes or less to perform.
Make-up can be applied immediately after.
Vitalize
Peel (In Office)
The Vitalize Peel, formerly known as the Precision
Peel, is a unique blend of Retinoic Acid, Alpha-Hydroxy
Acids with Resorcinol and other active cosmeceutical
ingredients. It is one of the safest, strongest
superficial medical peels. Extensive peeling usually
occurs within 48 hours and begins the process of
skin rejuvenation. The Vitalize Peel is performed
in the office by the Registered Nurse under physician
supervision. It can be repeated at three weeks for
maximum benefits and is recommended as a great way
to jump start a healthy skin care routine. As with
glycolic peels, it can be done as a ”lunch-time
peel”, only taking about 15 minutes to perform.
Make-up may be applied immediately after the procedure.
TCA
Peel (Outpatient)
TCA (trichloroacetic) is used primarily for fine
wrinkles or for superficial blemishes and pigment
problems. The TCA peel produces less facial bleaching
when compared to other peels and can be used on
all parts of the body. With increasing strength,
the peel acts first at the epidermis, subsequently
penetrating the dermis. The procedure can take as
little as 15 minutes. Make-up can not be applied
until seven to ten days when the skin has re-epithelialized.
The recovery process is much faster with a TCA peel.
Several strengths are offered ranging from a light
peel to a deep peel.
